The Scottrade Center has not been a friendly place lately for the Blues. Going 0-4-1 in the last 5 games there, they had hoped to change their luck against the Columbus Blue Jackets. That they did as David Perron scored the go ahead goal and Jaroslav Halak made a crazy save from his back to preserve a 2-1 win. Chris Stewart got the Blues on the board first, followed by a CBJ goal from Matt Calvert that would tie the game. Other than the lone goal, Jaro was able to stop the other 19 shots that he faced. Sergei Bobrovsky made 21 saves for the Jackets, and other than the 2 goals looked pretty solid.
Observations:
Chris Stewart strikes again. I’m just going to have to post his name permanently to my recaps at this rate.
It seems that the Halakness Monster is back. The goal that he gave up was in no way a softy. If he continues to play this way, people will soon forget that he really hasn’t played that much this year. I’m thinking he starts against the Blackhawks, at least that’s what I hope.
Speaking of solid: the Blues looked that way again tonight. It wasn’t a great game; it wasn’t a horrible game; it was a solid performance by all hands tonight.
Was it weird for anyone else that Tarasenko wasn’t on the ice tonight?
Congrats go to Sir Jaxx Barret Jackman for becoming the all time leader in games played as a Blue Note defenseman. Well done sir.
Speaking of Mr. Jackman….Why for the love of jeebus was he called for that penalty? Can anyone answer that? Bueller? The refs almost decided the end of the game. (Again.) You would think at this point in the season, they’d have it down. Nope. Another call blown in my opinion.
The Blues don’t play again until Thursday when they take on the hated Blackhawks. Get out to Scottrade for this one folks. It should be fun.
Three Stars-
1) Jaro Halak 2) Alex Pietrangelo (Um??) 3) Matt Calvert
