Brett Sterling's first recall has been a success, but back to Peoria he goes.
With the return of David Perron, Alex Pietrangelo getting over the flu and the progress of Carlo Colaiacovo a roster transaction or two is a given. Have to make space somehow. The Blues did just that Saturday.
ST. LOUIS – St. Louis Blues Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced Saturday the club has assigned defenseman Cade Fairchild and forward Brett Sterling to the Blues’ American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Peoria Rivermen.
Sterling appeared in four games and Fairchild only one. Neither recorded a point.
The Rivermen, 4-1 losers to the Milwaukee Admirals Friday night, could use the offensive reinforcements and steadying presence. With their depth depleated they’ve dropped five of their last six and have been outscored 23 to 16. In the AHL there is little time to dwell, at least on the weekends. The two teams are back in action tonight in the Rivs host the Ads for their first home game since November 11th. IN the 9 game road trip the Rivermen won four and lost five.
