Blues News: Huskins to IR | Prospect Lehtera Injured?
The Blues blocked 14 shots in their 3-1 loss to Calgary on Friday night. Two of those were by denfeseman Kent Huskins. The last one landed him on Injured Reserved with a fractured bone in his ankle per an announcement on the team’s official website Saturday.
No recall is expected from Peoria since the Blues are carrying eight healthy defensemen and return home after Sunday’s game in Edmonton. Taylor Chorney could see his first game in a Blues sweater, against the his former club no less, but Nikita Nikitin is Huskin’s likely replacement.
Yes, N64 has struggled at times. Posting no points and a deserved Minus-4 rating. However, he has had some high points to indicate his performance late last season was no fluke. He was seeing 20 minutes a night along side Roman Polak before his trip to the press box. It’s conceivable that he slides right in to Alex Pietrangelo‘s left or he matches up with Polak again while Carlo Colaiacovo moves up to Petro’s pairing.
One other tidbit…
Seeing reports online that Blues prospect Jori Lehtera has injured his knee and will miss up to a month. Trying to find out more details. I’m working on a prospect update for Monday. Will have more info then.
