Welcome to tonight’s cutie watch! The blues had an awesome shut-out game against the Vancouver Canucks on Wednesday, and it wasn’t the Sedins that were lighting up the score board. Steen played a great game and Elliott once again proved himself in net. David Perron even made an appearance during the game- although it was in the press box broadcasting with Pang and Kelly. Tonight, the Blues continue their western road trip in Calgary. Hopefully, the team isn’t too tired after rooting on the Cards in Game 6 last night to play well against the Flames tonight (check out info on their support here). Tonight my eye will be on:
Kevin Shattenkirk #22: This cutie leads the Blues defensemen in points so far this season. Shattenkirk currently has 5 points (1 G 4 A), with 2 of those points coming in the last game. Shattenkirk was part of the surprise trade with the Avalanche last season, and seemed to help ignite the team to finish out the 2010-11 season. Look for this cutie to continue to push hard as an offensive defensemen. You can also look for him on Twitter: @Shattdeuces.
Calgary Cutie to Watch: The Flames have won just 3 of their first 7 games this season. With powerhouse Jarome Ignila on their top line, the average low scores of their games is a bit surprising. The Blues and Flames have already had one match up this season, on October 10, and the Blues came away with a 5-2 win (Halak’s only win of the season so far). tonight, the Flames will need to amp up their game if they hope to beat the recently-hot Blues. Here’s who my eye will be on tonight:
Alex Tanguay #40, Left Wing: This cutie may be most “on fire” player the Flames have right now. The winger currently leads the team in points with 7. While he isn’t the team’s goal-leader, Tanguay seems to be rallying the team’s offense. Look for this cutie to try to set the Blues goalie aflame tonight in Calgary.
