Q’s Cuties: Blues vs Hurricanes | October 21, 2011
Welcome to tonight’s cutie watch! The Blues officially have most fans worried after a 5-0 blowout against the Kings. The Blues now have 4 losses in 6 games, and only 1 win with goalie Jaroslav Halak starting in net. Tonight, the Blues take on the Eastern Conference Carolina Hurricanes. The two teams haven’t met since last December, and the Canes beat the Blues 2-1 in that game. Tonight is also Pink at the Rink; check out those details here. Here’s who I’ll have my eye on tonight:![]()
Chris Stewart #25: This cutie may only have 2 goals so far this season, but you can bet he will be trying his best to out perform his brother on the ice tonight. C. Stewart has been suffering along with the Blues special teams. As the team starts to pull together, it is likely that he will start to excel as well. Last season, between play with the Avalanche and the Blues Chris Stewart had 53 points (28 G, 25 A). Look for this cutie to shine tonight as he tries to prove he is the better Stewart brother on the ice in St. Louis. Check out the St. Louis Blues preview of the brothers’ match up here.
Hurricanes Cutie to Watch: The Hurricanes have started their season 3-2-1. They have had 2 days off before tonight’s match- just like the Blues. The Hurricanes are looking to continue their winning road trip, their 3 wins have been consecutive. The Canes started off struggling with their special teams, but seem to have gotten their act back together. Look for the well-rested Hurricanes to play their hardest against the Blues tonight. As an Eastern Conference special, I have 2 players that I will have my eye on tonight:
Eric Staal #12, Center: Anytime a Staal is playing the Blues, you can bet my eye will be on him. While Staal started the season with a bang with 2 goals and 1 assist in the season opener, but his next few games fizzled. Staal currently has only 4 points so far this season. The Hurricanes seem to be getting back on track, so Staal is likely to get back into his “normal” groove. Watch for this cutie to look to bounce back into his offensive power against the Blues tonight.
Anthony Stewart #13, Right Wing: This cutie goes head to head with his brother for the first time in St. Louis. Today on Twitter, A. Stewart has been discussing his excitement for going against his brother, and that his family is hoping for an “old fashioned tie” tonight. Stewart now has two goals this season; he too has suffered from the slow start of the Hurricanes. Watch for this cutie to try and out-perform his brother tonight.
