Q’s Cuties: Blues @ Kings | October 18, 2011

Welcome to tonight’s cutie watch!  The Blues are continuing their road trip in California tonight against the LA Kings.  I’m not loving this west coast road trip; the games are way too late for someone who likes sleep as much as I do.  The Blues are coming off another tough loss with Jaroslav Halak in net against the Ducks on Sunday.  The Ducks had previously had only 4 total goals, but whipped the Blues 4-2 in Anaheim.  Blues fans continue to worry about Halak’s abilities, but remember that the season is still young.  Tonight, the Blues are hoping to redeem themselves and turn the road trip into a split result.  They currently have only one win in the 3 game road trip.  Tonight is their last game until they come back home for a quick pit stop.  Here’s who I’ll be watching tonight:

Kent Huskins #6: This cutie is the new number 6 to keep your eye on in St. Louis.  Move on from the memory of Erik Johnson, this defenseman has proven himself at the beginning of this season to be a strong man on the blue line.  Huskins has 1 goal and 2 assists, which ties him with D’Agostini in third for scoring, and is a strong plus 7.  Keep your eye on this cutie to continue to be a solid strong force on the blue line.

Kings Cutie to Watch:  The Kings are suffering from injury as well as the Blues, with one of their star defensemen, Drew Doughty, who has been placed on Injured Reserve with an upper body injury.  The Kings started their season in Stockholm, and are finally back in LA for their home opener tonight.  The Kings are headed home 2-2 in their first 4 games.  With the loss of Doughty to injury, the Blues will need to put pressure on the defense, which is likely shaky with the loss of one of their best.

The Kings will be having their Love for Lokomotiv  bracelet sale to benefit the families of those lost in September plane crash.  Goalie Jonathan Quick posted a picture of their bracelets on Twitter (@JonathanQuick32), and the bracelets are also available on the Kings website.

Here is who I’ll have my eye on in tonight’s game:

Jack Johnson #3, Defense: This cutie is the top point earning defensemen for the Kings so far this season.  Johnson’s 3 points put him tied for third in points with center Mike Richards.  With star Drew Doughty out, Johnson will be looking to make up for the loss on the blue line.  Keep an eye on this cutie to bring the offensive side to defense against the Blues.

I'm a stay at home mom of a little hockey nut who started watching hockey in 2008. I love the pace of the game, the rough and tumble hits and fights, and, of course, the good looking and talented players.
