Oct. 12th Bluenotes: More Ownership News, Cheechoo Train Link, Shields to Alaska

Bluenotes is a (sometimes) daily does of news and views from around St. Louis Blues nation and the NHL beyond.

So it looks like Matthew Hulsizer is the man with the plan. As first reported by Andy Strickland Wednesday and also by Jeremey Rutherford early Thursday morning, word is that the Blues and Hulsizer could sign a binding purchase agreement as early as today.

Continuing progress is great news, but assuming the agreement is actually announced there is still no time table to close and receive Board of Governors approval. The next BOG meeting is in December. An impromptu conference call can be conviened in the between time if the deal closes before said next meeting.

Between the two reports the deal is in the $185-$190 million range and will include the Peabody Opera House along with the Blues, Peoria Rivermen and the Scottrade Center lease.

David Shields, the Blues 6th roudn pick in 2009 (168th), was assigned to the Alaska Aces of the ECHL. He had been the odd man out on the young Rivermen blue line and hasn’t seen one minute of regular season action yet. Getting him to Alaska will at least give him some playtime. Injuries will always creep up. He’ll be back in the AHL soon enough.
