Hi. I’m the new guy.
At the beginning of this introductory post I would like to again thank the fine people here at Blue Note Zone for allowing me to help them out in bringing you information about the Peoria Rivermen (or as I hear some people call them, the “baby Blues”).
I also want to be clear, I am not here as a replacement for the BNZ crew, they did a great job without me. What I am hoping to do is allow the Blues fans who want to know more about the farm club a place to quickly get caught up without having to slog through multiple posts a day. Being in Peoria and covering the team every day makes it a little easier for me than it would for someone based out of St. Louis.
I maintain a blog dedicated to the Rivermen elsewhere, and if you want the full experience I invite you come on over and take a look. More information on this at the bottom of the post.
What I Am Not: I am not a member of the press. I am not an employee of the team. I am not a professional writer of any kind, so spelling and grammar errors are going to happen. I am not an expert. I am not a Blues blog, I’ll let the BNZ crew handle that.
I am also not bound by the need to use the professional language. If something is a spectacular walking crapfest I will be the first to say so, and use the language I need to do just that. However, I am going to try to keep this, and my main blog, at a solid PG-13 or below. Sometimes the occasional thought or word might sneak through, but generally I won’t write it if I wouldn’t let my son read it. After all, if the family wants to use the blog to come together in support of the Rivermen and make it *ahem* DAILY READING *ahem* who am I to turn them away with foul language?
What I Am: I am a fan. I am a hockey player, just not a good one. I am a father and husband, and my family will occasionally demand more of my time than the blog can withstand. When it comes down to it, family wins. But they are also super cool and understanding when Daddy has to write about the Rivermen (or as my wife sometimes calls it “Why aren’t you getting a real job?”).
I am looking to start posting a weekly round-up on BNZ for those who want a quick sheet for the Rivermen. Look for those starting Monday 10/10. They will hopefully give you a chance to be a little more knowledgeable about what is happening to the future of the franchise in Peoria. Who knows, you may like us enough to come by for a visit to Carver Arena.
If/when the demand for more posts about the Rivermen go up then I will post here more often.
As for The Rivermen Blog daily info and updates you can find all you need HERE. That is my blog, and I will be doing the majority of my work over there.
All posts are uploaded to Twitter and Facebook at the same time. So either follow the Twitter account or “like” the blog on Facebook, your call. There is also a subscribe button at the top of the home page for RSS feeds.
PLEASE feel free to comment on posts, or just to chat with each other. I do read all of the comments, and will be enforcing the Rule of Civility (just be nice, disagree all you want, but be nice).
Or email me: rivermenblog@gmail.com
Thanks for the time, and start looking for more Rivermen news here soon!
