Blues Place Ty Conklin on Waivers

Blues Goaltender Ty Conklin
The St. Louis Blues have confirmed, via Doug Armstrong’s quote to JR at the Post, that backup goalie Ty Conklin has been placed on waivers.
His departure from the Blues was expected either via trade by Monday;’s deadline or in the off season. However, he could be gone a split second earlier. The other 29 NHL teams will have till Monday at noon to claim Conks.
Long story short, the trade market is lean for backup goaltenders. The Blues would likely to want get more than a conditional pick or border line AHL/ECHL filler. Going through waivers at least gives Ty a chance to take his game elsewhere and try to raise his value for the summer. If movement was trade only, ConkBlock may be sitting around St. Louis. Why have that when the Blues can save nearly $100,000 in payroll by writing the checks out to Ben Bishop instead?
This is also a clear indication that Jaroslav Halak will likely be ready to go by Tuesday’s game against the Calgary Flames. Otherwise why run the risk of being a goalie short?
