Q’s Cuties: Blues vs Ducks 2-19
Welcome to tonight’s cutie watch! I want to start by bidding our Captain a farewell and wishing Brewer the best of luck in Tampa…. maybe fans will like him more there. Also, after the shocking news of a late night trade, I’d like to say goodbye to Erik Johnson and Jay McClement. I know we have been in a bit of a slump and EJ hasn’t looked great lately, but losing Johnson is a bit of a shocker, but the Blues got some great players in return. I’m sure we will all miss Johnson (takes my daughter down to 3 players on the Blues roster that she can name by face), but the Blues have to do what is best for their team. Newly acquired Chris Stewart is a former Featured Cutie, and so fans can be assured that this blogger knows what Stewart can do for the Blues. With some major trades going down yesterday, I’m anxious to see if the Blues make any trades closer to the deadline…. It is certainly something all Blues fans are wondering this morning. The Blues looked great against Buffalo last night in spite of losing their captain shortly before the game. After last night’s major switch-up, I wonder how they will perform tonight. Here’s who my eye will be on:
David Backes #42: This cutie had his 2st goal of the season last night in Buffalo. He is currently 5 goals ahead of any other Blues player, with Steen sitting in the number 2 spot with 16. Backes is on a roll with 4 goals in his last 5 games. Biggest reason David gets the Featured Cutie spot tonight: #42 is leading the Blues in points with 42. Thought that was pretty “cute.” Keep your eye on this Alternate Captain to continue to be a leader for the Blues, not only in points, but also in leadership as he splits the role with the other alternates.
Ducks Cuties to Watch: Good news for the Blues- the Ducks starting goalie Jonas Hiller is currently out with fatigue symptoms. The Ducks have lost their last 2 games while missing their starter, and the Blues should be able to capitalize on the shortcomings of their back up goalie. Here’s who I will be watching tonight:
Corey Perry #10, Right wing: This cutie is by far the “hottest” player on the Ducks right now. Perry currently has 66 points in 59 games, 8 more points than any other player on the team. He also leads the team in goals (30), and he is in a 3 way tie for assists (36). This cutie has 10 points in his last 5 games- 8 of those points are assists. Keep your eye on this cutie to be a powerhouse for the Ducks; although they are without their All-Star goalie, Perry and his teammates know how to hold their own offensively.
