Throwdown Lowdown – Blues @ Predators – 11-24-10

I anticipated violence on Saturday, but none was to be had in the form of fisticuffs as the Blues and New Jersey Devils did not drop the gloves in the Blues 3-2 victory.  So again, the Blues hold steady at 20 fights on the season.  Amazingly, they stay at fourth place all by themselves in the NHL.  The fight record remains at 9-6-5.

Nearly two months into the season, and this is already The Note’s fourth meeting with a Nashville Predators team that plays with gloves glued to their hands.  I do not like this team.  FIGHT, DAMNIT!  The Preds are tied for 28th (and last) in the NHL with the Carolina Hurricanes and the Florida Panthers with FOUR fights.  Keep in mind that they’ve played 19 GAMES thus far this season.  Four fights to this point is nearly an embarrassment to truculence.

I’ll save my breath about the fighters, since I’ve already done three of these reports about this team.  The latest one was on October 28th, and that report is here.  The only change from that report (and the prior ones) to this one is that Francis “Cube” Bouillon worked a draw with Chicago’s Nick Boynton.

I’ll also save my breath regarding a certain player whose name rhymes with “Boardin’ Choo-Choo”.  I’ve spilled enough ink on him.  Someone needs to teach that young man a lesson, though, and I wouldn’t mind if it happened tonight.

I almost don’t want to pick a fight of the night as, well, the Preds don’t fight.  But with the recent resurgence of Brad Winchester, who WOULDN’T like to see him get into a fight . . . and win it?  I want him to challenge Wade Belak.  They can work a good fight with each other, I’m sure.

Play for keeps, boys!  Keep this streak going.

LET’S GO BLUES!!!!!
