Throwdown Lowdown – Blues @ Predators 10-28-10

So I didn’t get to see either one of the Blues’ games over the weekend due to earlier obligations (my life gets more than hectic when the IHSA football playoffs come around, let’s just say that).  But I was able to catch video of BJ Crombeen beating the holy Christ out of Craig Adams on Saturday following a semi-successful team effort against the Blackhawks the previous night.  I’m starting to think these Blues learned something when they faced the Anaheim Ducks – not only that they COULD fight, but they could fight with ANY team in the league.  I see that confidence out of Crombeen, I’ll say that.  The team has now contested in 9 fights, good for 4th in the NHL.  Their record?  5-2-2.  Very respectable.

We’ve previewed the Nashville Predators before.  And since they’re a waste of a full report’s time, I wish not to repeat myself.  You can find the previous Throwdown Lowdown from two weeks ago here, and you can find my rant on why, partially, Nashville may be the way they are (with heavy emphasis on Jordin Tootoo) here.  But all you need to know is that the Predators DON’T fight much, and are tied for 22nd with three fights thus far in the season.  They’ve seemed to reemphasize the enforcer role in the last few days.  Look, all they have to do is bury Jordin Tootoo fifty miles from where they are and their team is fixed.  I wish I were kidding.

Cam Janssen has been activated from IR, but I fully do not expect him to fight anyone.  Tyson Strachan will be in the lineup in place of the injured Roman Polak (such a bad break for my favorite big non-Italian non-Polish Czech), and at his size and temperament, Strachan COULD fight someone tonight.  With all that known, my dream matchup of the night involves Nashville veteran Wade Belak.  He’s big, he’s strong, he’s not afraid of anyone . . . what BETTER opponent for David Backes?!

Start a ROAD WINNING STREAK finally!  DO THIS!

LET’S GO BLUES!!!!!
