Blues News: Welcome Back Cam (Polak Update)

Per release from the St. Louis Blues official website, the team has activated Cam Janssen from Injured Reserve.

The Eureka, MO native has been out with a concussion since the home opener on October 9th. Both Janssen and line mate Brad Winchester attempted to hit Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Oskars Bartulis. Winchester missed and hit Janssen in the head.

Will play Thursday? Not likely given the solid play of the current 4th line unit of Winchester, Vladimir Sobotka and Matt D’Agoatini/BJ Crombeen. Don’t rule him out totally though. Games in Nashville get chippy and his physical edge could be needed.

Defenseman Nathan Oystrick was recalled from the Blues AHL affiliate, Peoria Rivermen, Wednesday. The 27 year old has 3 goals and 7 points in 10 games so far for the Rivs.

His recall is emergency coverage for Thursdays game in Nashville. Tyson Straxhan will skate in place of an inured Roman Polak who is out with a wrist laceration complements of Sodney Crosby’s skate. Polak has not been ruled out of Saturday’s home game against the Atlanta Thrashers.

UPDATE 4:00 PM: Per Jeremy Rutherford Polak will have surgery Thursday to reattach a tendon. Damage was greater than originally estimated upon a second opinion and consultation with a hand specialist.

Polak is out indefinitely. Armstong told Rutherford there are no plans to go outside the organization to address the loss in depth.

Not good news Blues fans.
