Just Sayin’…
Just sayin’… Once is enough…
The hit on Jason Pominville by Nik Hjalmarsson was disgusting and terrible decision making by the Hawks defenseman. Don’t burn the young Swede at the stake over it though. He is not cut from the same mold as the Downie’s, Cooke’s and Avery’s of the league.
Just sayin’… Good to see them stay, but…
Joe Thornton’s $21 million, three year extension should be a positive for the San Jose Sharks. They lock up a consistent offensive producer at a manageable cap hit and salary compare to his presumed open market value. Patrick Marleau decided to hang around the Bay Area and not test the open market as well. As a fan of hockey in general, its good to see players stick around with their team and bring home the hardware for the fans they play inront of year in and year out.
At the same time, does anyone wonder if the this core of Sharks players can get the job done. Teams like Vancouver, Chicago, and Detrot haven’t regressed past their elite status. Young teams like Los Angeles, St. Louis and Colorado are quickly ascending the ranks. If they haven’t done it in their last three to four attempts, how are the conditions more favorable now to lock in the same crew against an ever strengthening conference?
Definition of insanity?
Just Sayin’… I’m not offended…
James Wisneiwski’s obscene justure didn’t bother me. Sure, its lewd and insanely ironic that he showed off his skills to Mr. Sloppy Seconds, but to those claiming “what about the kids!??!?!”, let me ask, “what about the parents?!?!?!?” . Like Greg Wyshynski said on his Puck Daddy radio show, its a perfect opportunity for parents to talk to their children about the birds and the bees. Or is sex (in its various forms) still so ludicrously taboo that we need to stick our heads in the sand? Does the NHL need to punish a player for mimicking a similar motion kids see on TV when mommy and daddy turn on something like Desperate Housewives?
Just sayin’…Ryan Miller needs help…
I know that Darcy Regier and Lindy Ruff do an excellent job of building a competitive team on a budget. They are the David Poile and Barry Trotz of the Eastern Conference. Yet, like the Predators, they continue to fall short from Game 83 forward.
Why?
Elite goaltending can only carry a team so far today. Ryan Miller may be one of the top five netminders in the post lock-out era, but the team in front of him scores like its the 1990′s. The goal supoort is just too thin. Putting in two (three if your lucky) goals a game doesn’t cut it anymore. Through Friday’s games the Sabres are 26th in the NHL with 1.80 Goals For/Game and a 1-3-1 record. Not the way last season’s Division winner thought they would start. Is it the defense’s inability to move the puck or a lack of finishing ability upfront? Doesn’t matter at this point, figure it out and obtain personnel that will let Miller seal the deal.
Just Sayin’… Go Leafs Go!
Not just because I have a few of them on my fantasy teams or the fact that Im addicted to the Hockey Central podcasts…but because its a feel good story. The Leaf fans have been take out back an dbeaten for so long, they deserve some happiness. Besides, I feel a need for a little thank you for sending three of their first round draft picks to St. Louis (one via Boston detour) that have really helped the Blues over the last three seasons.
Just Sayin… Crash and Burn in a Flaming Ball…
I honestly bought in to some of the Calgary Flames cautious optimism. They’ve got some names, sprinkle in some youngsters and poof, they can win some games. Wrong so far. Perhaps I need to evaluate the definition of insanity when I evaluate the Flames next season…
Just Sayin… Waiver Pickup?
Some of you that have read my work on other sites know I am a Penguins fan as well as a Blues fan. Have been since I was about 11-12 and taking my first glimpse of Super Mario. I know they could use some additional offensive skill on the wings. Is Fabian Brunnstrom a pick up on waivers? I love the composition of the Pens when healthy, but all hockey fans know a full roster is rarely healthy. They could use a little buffer and I don’t see Ray going the Miro Satan route. Low cost gamble if the money works out? Don’t tell me about Janne Pesonen…he was Finnish, maybe a Swede would pan out?
I saw Richard Cloutier of Hockeybuzz.com float an idea that the Oilers may nab him. Worth the gamble for a team who knows how injuries tear up a team’s chances.
Just sayin… Speaking of Oilers…
I may have pegged them dead least in the preseason power rankings, but I also said they wouldn’t finish there. These team is just so much fun to watch. Ales Hemsky back makes a huge difference. Will the Bulin wall hold? That will determine how far they go. They are my late night team of choice on Center Ice. Don;t see that changing anytime soon.
