GamebBlog 9-26-10: Blues vs. Avalanche
As always, I welcome you to follow me on Twitter – @618_STLBlues and @BlueNoteZone. I also suggest that fans follow Aaron Musick (@Avalangelist) of Hockeybuzz.com for updates from Colorado’s point of view.

The Blues lost in Big D to the Stars last night in a big way. Giving up four goals in a five minute stretch of the first period. The team travels north west to Colorado to take on the Avalanche and they know all about scoring quickly against the Blues. It’s a good thing the preseason is about testing players and not wins and losses.
Lineup
Per the Blues official website:
Erik Johnson, Patrik Berglund, Brad Boyes, Ian Cole, Dave Scatchard, BJ Crombeen, Alex Pietrangelo, Chris Porter, Tyson Strachan, Matt D’Agostini, Nathan Oystrick, Nick Drazenovic, Cam Janssen, Nikita Nikitin, TJ Oshie, Ryan Reaves, Brett Sonne, TJ Hensick, Adam Cracknell, Ty Conklin, Ben Bishop
News & BlueNotes
- Jake Allen struggled in the first period of his first start. Allowing four goals in less than five minutes on 13 shots on goal. Sounds like the defense was not helping him out. Jaroslav Halak sat out of the entire game. Allen did settle down and allowed just one goal on 11 shots for the remainder of the game. It was a forgone conclusion that he would end up in Peoria, so don’t take his roster cut as due to his performance in Dallas.
- For a full list of Sunday’s roster cuts, head over to the Blues official website. No real surprises, except possible for McRae. Sad to see Cundari go, but he needs to be in Peoria.
- Cam Janssen and Krys Barch settled their Twitter feud…for now. All I’ve heard is a draw so far.
Who to watch for?
A Young Defense – A very young group patrols the blueline this evening. Johnson, Pietrangelo, Cole, Nikitin, Strachan and Oystrick. fans keep an eye on Cole and Pietrangelo. How much of their play was effected by the veterans they were partnered with (Polak and Jackman respectively)? We shall see this evening.
Calling out Former Roommates – Neither Oshie or Berglund have been on the winning side of a preseason game. I know I say all the time that the preseason record doesn’t count, but at some point these two young guns need to take over a game and win it.
The game is on where?
UPDATED 3:15pm – It appears 950 AM will be streaming the game live. Let’s all cross our fingers it holds out this time. Link here to listen. I will do my best to tweet updates tonight, follow the action at @618_STLBlues and @BlueNoteZone.
