Thursday Bluenotes: Random Thoughts

Sources say the Blues are not worried about getting Valdimir Tarasenko over from Russia next season. Regardless of his contract status.

Rumor hit the hockey world yesterday that Tarasenko was close to an extension with his KHL club, Sibir. The article might have been misinterpreted. The contract change appears to be a restructure and not an extension.

If the contract is reworked in to a one-year deal (which is the current assumption), then Tarsenko will not need to buy out his remaining season. Keep in mind NHL teams “aren’t allowed” to assist a player in buying out their KHL contract. That would make his path to St. Louis a much easier trip.

Radom thought: A solid WJC and KHL season for Tarasenko + openbriad to St. Louis = expendable Brad Boyes? His $4 million salary could be reinvested in to extensions for Backes, Oshie, Berglund and Polak.

For the sake of my Keeper team I want Kovalchuk in NJ so Burke can’t send Kaberle there. I need Andy Greene running their Power Play.

-

Will Kaberle be moved? Maybe. Burke needs to settle and get value back.

Sell your soul (and Kaberle) for Bobby Ryan, Burkie. Put the kid centers between Kessel and Ryan and let the go crazy.

It worked on Phil…right?

2010 First Round Pick Jared Tinordi and Team USA WJC star Jerry D’Amigo are saying no to the NCAA. Tinordi us passing on Notre Dame for the OHL and D’Amigo is leaving RPI to sign with the Maple Leafs.

American jockey is improving, but is the NCAA? Two different animals.

Had a nice time at Vesper’s last night. Davis Payne is a very down to earth guy. If you didn’t know he was the Head Coach of a NHL team he could be any guy at the bar.

If Kariya to Anaheim makes so much sense, why isn’t it done?

Roman Polak finishes 2010-11 with the second most points in the blueline. Gets to 30.
