Tuesday Bluenotes: Skachkov Signing? Nope.

A report from HotStove.com suggests that the Blues were trying to bring “Prospect” Evgeni Skachkov over to North America for this season. Skachkov denies that he agreed to the Blues offer and took a more lucrative deal from the AK Bears of the KHL.

With Dmitry Chesnokov as the source of this information there is likely a good bit if truth to the news. My guess is the Blues offered a two way deal with an invite to camp and he said no. Can’t blame him. His path to a roster spot is heavily clogged with Doug Armatrong’s recent deals.

Blues fans should be very happy to see Marty Turco in net for the Hawks. Over the last two seasons he is 1-4-1 against the Blues. Allowing 19 goals (3.17 GAA) and posting a lame .848 Save%. Time will tell if it was Marty or the mediocre Stars team in front of him. For now I’d put it on Marty.

The Official Peoria Rivermen Twitter feed said this morning that big player news is coming today. Looks like Defenseman TJ Fast is heading to the Florida Panthers organization. Coming in return is AHL veteran winger Graham Mink.

You can find more on the trade on the Blues official website.

Blues Q&A is up. What Grade does Doug Armstrong receive for his first month on the job? A, B, C, D, or F? Vote on Twitter or Facebook. Just search for the BlueNoteZone.

In NHL news…

Kovalchuk’s hearing starts tomorrow. Ode to joy…

The Sabres are letting Tim Kennedy go? Yeah, I don’t get that one. Burke isn’t putting a claim in, but he would be a good fit in Toronto. Maybe they know something the rest of us don’t?

Andy Sutton comes to the East. Keep your heads up now. Gotta watch out for Sutton or you’ll end up face first in to the lip of the boards like Pascal Dupuis.

Mike Modano is likely heading to Detroit. Detroit retools once again. I know Modano is past his prime, but he can still play in a teams top 9. Add in his experience and you have a player with positive impact potential. Damn you Detroit.

Boston has signed Tyler Seguin to a three year Entry Level Contract. He was the 2nd Overall selection in the 2010 Entry Draft.

Columbus prospect Nilita Filatov is returning from Russia a full 6 weeks before camp. Still glad the Blues didn’t draft him.

Last, but not least… On this day in 2005 the Blues traded Norris and Hart winning Defenseman Chris Pronger to the Edmonton Oilers for Eric Brewer, Jeff Woywitka and Doug Lynch.

…and everyone at once….

“F U Bill Laurie!”
