Captain Brewer On IR | Blues Bring Up Junland

Eric Brewer hasn’t had the best of luck in staying healthy the last few years.

After missing most of last season, with problems with the nerves in his back, he injured his knee before pre-season and still managed to come back a lot earlier than many thought was possible. Now he is back on the shelf with a lower body injury.

Word is Carlo Colaiacovo could sit tonight as well as he  took a puck off  his skate in the game against the Detroit Red Wings.  Word is, this injury prompted the call up for Junland.

Jonas Junland will be playing his first game of the season with St. Louis tonight.

Jonas Junland will be playing his first game of the season with St. Louis tonight.

Junland, like Carlo, is a left handed shot and plays the left point on the power play.

Jonas Junland, AHL all-star last season, is continuing in his impressive resume in the American Hockey League career has he currently holds 18 points (six goals, 12 assists) in 22 games with the Peoria Rivermen this season. He has been the top defensemen in both ends for the Rivermen this year and many believe he deserves this call up.

But does this hamper Pietrangelo in playing game ten tonight?

Most likely. Pietrangelo is getting a ton of practice time for the Blues, but the team seems hesitant to play him in game number ten. Is it because they don’t think he’s NHL ready? Is it because they think he deserves stay up compared to playing junior hockey? I can’t answer that question, but as of right now, the Blues aren’t giving an answer either.

Jonas Junland will likely be paired with Mike Weaver in tonight’s game against the Columbus Blue Jackets. He’ll be paired with Erik Johnson on the point on the power play as well.
