Food for Thought
The Blues are have a 7-8-1 record against the LA Kings since the the lockout. Last season the Blues lost 3 of 4 games to the Kings. taking only 2 of a possible 8 points against the Kings.
Hopefully Center Patrik Berglund can get rolling tonight vs LA. Last season in 4 games against LA Patrik had 3 goals on 6 shots. One goal was a game winner.
Look for Forward Andy McDonald to play well tonight. He has been flying all over the ice to start the season and only has one goal so far this year despite numerous chances. Over the last two seasons vs. LA he has 3 goals (on 15 shots) and an assist in 6 games against LA.
Blues Center David Backes had a rough 08-09 Season vs LA. Registering only 1 assist in 4 games. Compare this to his 07-08 numbers vs LA. David had 2 goals and an assist with a +4 rating in 4 games. David has been known to start slow and gain momentum as the season moves along. Tonight will be a good chance for him to break the bad start stigma against a team he has had success against.
Winger David Perron chipped in 4 assists in 5 games vs LA in the last two seasons. David has been very good in all the Blues games to date this season, even though the stats don’t show it. If Coach Murray keeps McDonald-Backes-Perron together again tonight. I’d look for that line chipping at least a goal, but likely produce 2-3.
Blues Goalie Chris Mason started 2 games last year vs LA. IN those two games he ended up with a 1-1 record, 2.41 GAA, and a .913 Save%.
